Inside the City of ParisWritten by Renee |
Most people think of two things when they talk about Paris – the Eiffel Tower and romance. Yes, these are two factors associated with a trip to this fabulous European city but there is so much more. Known as the City of Light, Paris has a very interesting history. Initially, Paris was known as Lutece. This French word relates to the form of Luteia, the Roman City, which is now the very location where Paris was built.
During pre-Roman and Gaul days, Luteia was a part of the town of Merovinglan. Interestingly, other than Paris and Luteia sharing the same position to the Island of Ile de la Cite, there is not much in common. This Island, which translates to “Midwater Dwelling”, was simply a ford that became convenient for the Seine. Today, the city of Paris has become one of the hottest tourist attractions and for many reasons.
Paris is the largest city in all of France, as well as the capital city. Throughout Paris, tourists will find wonderful museums, art galleries, monuments, and avenues that provide a personal look into the vast history. Many of the buildings still standing and used in Paris are from the 18th century although modern structures now dot the city, which is what makes this such an intriguing place to visit.
Throughout its history, Paris has always been considered by people from around the world to be a place of opportunity. For this reason, this city became a huge attraction for immigrants and tourists who wanted to see for themselves what the city offered them. Even today, Paris stands apart from most other European cities in that it remains a city, where dreams come true.

Sitting on the Seine River banks, today Paris is home to more than two million people in the metropolitan area and another 10 million in the suburbs known as Ile de France. For anyone into fashion, Paris is the number one spot. Every year, more than 30 people come from around the globe to be a part of this fashion empire, as well as to have the experience of shopping, dining, and enjoying the fabulous nightlife. With many affordable accommodations, Paris is a place that anyone can visit, seeing the very magic the city exudes.
